Project Brief

‘Saransh Courtyard’ is a small redevelopment project along the BRTS Corridor in the western part of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India. With the BRTS Project of Ahmedabad came some major changes in Building bye laws of the city. The FSI along the corridor was increased from 1.8 to 4, which made this a viable project for redevelopment.

The name ‘Courtyard’ was derived from the design of a narrow building with staggered voids conceptualised in the facade, creating double height open spaces for each dwelling. These spaces are like horizontal courts.

But being a small plot of land this FSI was available only if it could have a proportionate road facing commercial development, which was incorporated in the design. This is a single building, 7 storey project with 42, three bedroom units and 2 levels of basement parking. Since it is a small plot, the common amenities like indoor games, a home theatre, a small swimming pool, a gymnasium and a garden have been created on the terrace level.
